I"m looking forward to hearing how many ways y'all can call me a bonehead without using the same words as the last guy (or gal). If I had money for super-dooper software and pricey peripherals I would have taken the whole thing to a shop. In other words, it's gotta be pretty straight forward and cheap. I'm pretty wide open to anything that a guy with 10 thumbs and no computer education (other than the Ag Eco class where we wrote if/then statements on yellow pads with #2 pencils, handed them to the class TA who punched our 'coding' onto cards and fed them into the thing that took up most of the room). From what I've read that should give me basically a second operating system I could access by booting up that partition (D:\)?ĭoes this make sense? Will it work? Is there an easier way to do this? How could I go about either getting to the data on the original hard drive, or better, install it to the new unit? HERE'S MY THOUGHT AND QUESTION (finally): After dinking around and doing a lot of reading I'm thinking my best bet is to create a new partition on the new #2 hard drive, then restore the image of #1 hard drive to this partition. ![]() I had put it in safe keeping to preserve photos, music, etc and did not keep up to date. I've tried hooking #1 hard drive to my APRICORN SATA wire and plugging into a USB port. I'm drafting this note to you from the #2 unit with its original hard drive and screen and RAM from #1 unit. The result was a laptop that wouldn't do anything useful.īeing the brilliant technician that I am, I bought an identical ASUS (with a minor-cracked screen Each and every one of the character models looks really good, and the generic characters manage to distinguish themselves quite well. Graphically, Def Jam Vendetta is great all around. However, to unlock all the game's hidden items and wrestlers, you will have to play through it multiple times. Unfortunately, it is a bit on the short side, and an experienced player will likely finish the entire thing in just a few hours. Overall, the story mode is actually a lot of fun, providing just enough plot to keep things interesting. If so inclined, you can also unlock pictures in the game's photo gallery of the real-life counterparts of the female characters. You actually get to choose which female character to play as, in effect choosing which one you want to serve as your valet. Tag-team matches will also present themselves occasionally, as will intermittent fights between female characters, usually over the bragging rights to call themselves your manager. Wins also earn cash for your character, allowing you to improve your wrestler and purchase unlockable items. Beating any character in this mode unlocks him in the other gameplay modes. Eventually you will come upon a boss character for that level, played by one of the Def Jam artists. Starting out at the bottom rung of the circuit, you go up against a series of generic wrestlers. You begin by choosing one of four original characters, each with his own strengths and weaknesses in the categories of power, grappling, speed, stamina, defense, and charisma. While these modes provide a very standard wrestling experience, the true heart and soul of the Def Jam Vendetta is its story mode. In survival mode, you choose one wrestler and take on more than 40 opponents in a long, drawn-out series of single matches. Battle mode serves as the game's exhibition mode, allowing up to four players to choose from a variety of different match types, including single, tag-team, handicap, and battle royal. Players looking for a more inventive or original method of play may find themselves turned off by how steadfastly the game holds to the AKI formula, but while it may not be very innovative at this point, it's still a very solid system.ĭef Jam Vendetta has all the usual match types and modes you'd expect from a wrestling game. This meter largely determines whether an opponent can be knocked out or pinned, while the region-specific meters are largely geared toward submission moves. Each wrestler also has a general health meter that will slowly replenish throughout the match. All damage done in the game is region-specific, and each part of a wrestler's body has its own health meter. When the meter reaches its peak, holding down the grapple button and hitting the right analog stick will perform your wrestler's unique special move. Building up your wrestler's momentum meter allows you to execute a special attack. Moves that involve launching off the top rope or throwing opponents into the ropes are set up similarly. Quickly tapping either button will perform a weaker version of the move, while holding a button down will perform a much stronger strike or allow for a more powerful grappling maneuver. Standing maneuvers are performed by pressing the strike button or grapple button in conjunction with a direction on the analog stick. Save for a much quicker pace and some minor tweaks here and there, the AKI engine has been left largely untouched.
